Second Semester

Hello there! It's been awhile.
As you can infer from the title, the second semester of my sophomore year has started. I've been back at school for a week and am still readjusting. Unfortunately, this semester contains quite a few business classes and barely any theatre and dance. I mean, I am pursuing a double major in international business, so I should get accustomed to business classes, but they are simply no fun! I truly don't understand how people want to work in business instead of be artists. But enough of my rambling...

I'll fill you in on the exciting last week or so of my break at some point, but in the meantime Anna Lee and I have resumed outfit photos! Today was miraculously warm, meaning I busted out the cat shorts while I could. Enjoy!

We lacked imagination in finding a shooting location today, so it was back to our trusty tree!

Outfit Details
Maroon beret - Vintage
Grey V-neck - DOTS
Cat shorts - Forever 21
Copper flats - Goodwill
Peter and the Starcatcher bracelet

I've been wearing my Peter and the Starcatcher bracelet nonstop. It's a little reminder of what I'm working for. It keeps me going through all those boring business classes!

We're aiming to take photos every Tuesday and Thursday, so expect more posts from me in the future! Also, I've taken to posting my outfits on lookbook occasionally, so if you could spare a hype it would be much appreciated!

Leaving My Teenage Years Behind Me

Well world, I've finally finished my teenage years. Here's to a sweet new decade!

Celebrated my 20th birthday with some delicious cupcakes from Caramanda's. If you are ever in Lexington, I highly recommend you check them out!
Flavors:
Chocolate Cheesecake | Italian Cream
Coconut Cream | Chocolate Salted Caramel
Chocolate Explosion | Red Velvet
Strawberry Shortcake | Chocolate Swirl

In my opinion, you're never too old for a tiara.

All in all, it was a fairly low-key day, but a lovely one nonetheless! Had some schoolwork and study abroad application business to do in the morning, played around with my camera, had dinner and presents with my family, and I am now watching The Avengers! More of the same is in store for the first few days of being 20, I believe, but I'm heading to Georgia on Thursday for a theatre conference, so I should have some fun stories then!

Color Study: Red

While I wouldn't single it out as my favorite color, I am certainly attracted to red. I love the punch of color it brings to everything, which is why there's a good amount of the color in my wardrobe and home. So much, in fact, that I thought I'd do a quick "color study" with the red accents in my life at the moment.

Confession: I'm not a huge fan of getting flowers. I love flowers when they're outside, growing and living, but I've never wanted to receive them after a performance or on a date because I'd rather see them thrive then wither while decorating my house. Hence why the only flowers you'll see in my dorm or room are fake ones. As for my family, they frequently have cut ones in a vase in the kitchen, but the flowers pictured above are actually still live! This lovely little plant is sitting in its pot on our kitchen counter, brightening up the room.

Sadly I've not been leaving the house much, as I've been busy taking a Microeconomics course online for Winter Term, plus my friends have all already gone back to their universities. Luckily, I did get to venture out yesterday for a trip to Street Scene! This lovely red skirt is from there and was only, drumroll please, five dollars! I know! What a steal.

Outfit Details:
Striped Tee - Modcloth
Red skirt - Street Scene Vintage
Black heels - Goodwill
Red leather bracelet - Adele, Christmas gift from my mother
Red and silver earrings - Vintage
Tote bag (pictured below) - The Strand Bookstore

Perhaps the best thing that comes in the color red is red lipstick!

Sweater Weather

Spring isn't quite in the air, but the flowers adorning my house say otherwise. Sadly, we lack the warm temperatures to go along with them. Instead Lexington is left with this odd in-between season. No snow, no rain. Just grey. Not my favorite. Fortunately, it is perfect for sweaters, leggings, and boots!

Outfit Details:
Sweater - L.L. Bean via Goodwill
Leggings - Forever21
Boots - Goodwill

I'm still in love with these boots! The things you can find at Goodwill if you're lucky...

Game Changer

Outfit Details
Virginia Tech Hokies Tee - gift
Leather skirt - Forever 21

Spent the day taking headshots and getting coffee with friends. It was nice to have a chance to be behind the camera, even if they were just simple shots. I still have so much to learn about photography and I love to have a chance to experiment...hopefully we got a few useful shots! Now it's off to see Ballroom with a Twist at the Lexington Opera House. Excited to see some beautiful dancing!

Mademoiselle

Sometimes I go old school and physically collage magazine images I find inspiring. I'm not much for digital work. I don't have any editing software and I'm hopeless with technology sometimes, so I find actual paper, scissors, and glue reassuring.
Anyhow, this is just a bit of my fashion inspiration for the month. I'm so used to wearing jewel tones, but I'd like to try some sweeter colors like pink, mint, light blue, silver, and white. Bows and glitter are musts, of course!
Oh! I don't know if I've shared this here, but I'm applying to study abroad in Paris this summer, hence the "mademoiselle." There's a month long course for theatre and fashion, how perfect!

(All images taken from various issues of magazines like Vogue and Elle. I own none of these images.)

Renewal

Happy New Year!
With snow on the ground and celebration in the air, it only seemed natural to wear a bit of sparkle!

My sister actually bought this dress a few years ago for us to share but neither of us has ever worn it. It's much too nice to be left hanging in a closet, never seeing the light of day. Since one of my New Year's Resolutions is to wear more of the clothes that have been rotting away in my closet, this dress seemed a perfect start!

I've always been more of an Audrey, but this dress absolutely reminds me of Marilyn Monroe. It's something new and I love it!

Wishing you a wonderful new year full of glitter and happiness!
